Yara Zalzal
Freelance Writer, Book Editor, Translator, Proofreader, Proposal Specialist | Crafting Compelling Narratives
Hi, I’m Yara Zalzal – a freelance writer, translator, editor, and grant enthusiast passionate about using words to make a difference. Since 2013, I’ve been helping individuals, nonprofits, and businesses communicate clearly and meaningfully through writing, translation, editing, and proposal support. I work on a wide range of materials – from reports and research studies to training guides, books, and funding proposals – across sectors such as humanitarian norms, education, agriculture, engineering, art, human security, and animal rights. Fluent in Arabic (native), English, and French – and currently learning Spanish – I create content that preserves accuracy and resonates with diverse audiences. Over the years, I’ve collaborated with organizations like Oxfam, Geneva Call, the Permanent Peace Movement, and the American University of Beirut. Whether it’s translating urgent humanitarian reports, proofreading conflict analysis studies, or drafting compelling proposals, I take pride in turning complex information into clear, impactful communication. I hold two Bachelor’s degrees (Public Administration and English Language), a Diploma in Media and Communication, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a focus on NGO governance from the American University of Beirut. My research on nonprofit governance led to a published co-authored chapter with Routledge. Outside of work, I enjoy photography, capturing the little details that tell a story, and writing vegan poetry as a form of activism, giving a voice to animal welfare causes. If you’re looking for someone who can bring clarity, creativity, and heart to your words, I’d be happy to work with you!
